If you're the adventurous type - or even if you just want to be - you'll need a vehicle that can take you there. Whether "there" is a lakeside cabin, a mountainous retreat, or an off-the-beaten-path hideaway, the Ford Explorer is the three-row SUV you need to handle the trip. Whether you are just traveling around Hattiesburg, Mississippi, or making your way down to Mobile for a weekend trip, the Explorer is well-equipped to take you and your family wherever you need to go.

Not only can it fit all of your people with seating for seven, its cargo area is massive, so you won't have to leave behind any of the gear and supplies that are a must for any great adventure.

The Explorer manages to stand out in the competitive midsize SUV segment because of its performance, space, features, smooth ride, and ruggedness, all of which make it a viable contender among other vehicles in this class. And with the trusted Ford name backing it, drivers know they're getting a durable and reliable SUV that will stand up to years of travel-on smooth highways and bumpy backroads alike.

History of the Ford Explorer

Replacing Ford's Bronco II model, the Ford Explorer made its North American debut for the 1991 model year. Following years of minor updates and revisions, the Explorer was drastically redesigned in 2011. Its new unibody frame (in lieu of its former truck-based frame) ushered it into true SUV territory.

As consumer demand for SUVs gained ground, so too did the Explorer's popularity. Its standing in the midsize SUV category remains solid model year after model year, as Ford continues to evolve the Explorer to keep up with changing driver desires and expectations.
